Jennifer Girone

Voice/Theory & Ear Training


Originally from Long Island, Ms. Girone earned her Bachelors of Music from the Hartt School in Hartford, Connecticut, where she studied with Steven Thomas and earned honors such as principal chair in the Hartt Symphony Orchestra, “Best of” in the semi-annual chamber competition, and the Presser Foundation Scholarship. She went on to receive her Masters of Music at Mannes College The New School for Music in New York under the guidance of Paul Tobias. Her accolades included a performing-arts scholarship and the Assistant Principal chair in the Mannes Orchestra.

Ms. Girone has performed in venues across the United States including the Warner Brothers' Studios in Los Angeles with the Henry Mancini Institute, in Houston, Texas at the Texas Music Festival, and in New Britain, Connecticut with the New Britain Symphony. She also had the honor of performing in Italy as a part of the Opera Theater and Music Festival of Lucca. More recently, Ms. Girone is a member of the Empire State Sinfonia and has performed with the One World Symphony, Ensemble 212 and the Mimesis Ensemble. She is also a founding member of the Archipelago Chamber Ensemble.

Other honors include performing with such distinguished musicians as Bobby McFerrin, Doc Severinson, Dave Koz, Patti Austin, and Shelly Berg. She has also played under the batons of Christoph Campestrini, Stefan Sanderling, Quincy Jones, James Newton Howard, and Alan Silvestri.

Ms. Girone has received her Suzuki certification at the School for Strings in Manhattan for Books 1-8. She is on faculty at the "Belle Arti" Center for the Arts, the School for Strings for Suzuki Early Childhood Education, and Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory of Music for Suzuki Cello. Her experience in teaching students of all ages in addition to her performance background gives her a well-rounded approach to practically any cellist, from a true beginner to a college applicant.

Jennifer has been on faculty at the "Belle Arti" Center for the Arts since 2009 teaching Musical Aurora, theory, and cello. Since then, she has been trained in Suzuki Early Childhood Education and has become a teacher at the School for Strings. In addition, she is on faculty at the Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory of Music teaching Suzuki cello, group cello, and Music Mind Games theory classes.


A current member of the Empire State Sinfonia and Archipelago Chamber Ensemble, Jennifer gives concerts around the Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island.

Performances with the Mimesis Ensemble in New York at Columbia University and Symphony Space, as well as in Washington, D.C. at the Kennedy Center

Performances in New York and Connecticut with One World Symphony, Ensemble 212, Mannes Orchestra, Hartt Symphony Orchestra, and the New Britain Symphony.

As a founding member of the Brusca Clarinet Trio, Jennifer has toured in Poughkeepsie, New York as well as the greater Hartford area giving concerts, seminars, and coachings.


“You cannot use the same method to teach every student because everyone learns and reacts differently. A teacher has to adjust to each person and tailor their lessons to their specific needs.”

“Most importantly, I want lessons to be fun for everyone. Whether that means taking a break to jump up and down and get some tension out or incorporating games into the lessons, I want the child to walk away from our lesson feeling happy and rejuvenated.”
