The Forest Hills Kids Corner™ is proud to announce a unique summer experience for kids ages 4-14.  Four of Forest Hills’ most popular young people’s programs -- Young Chefs Academy, “Belle Arti” Center for the Arts, SCORE! Educational Centers, and "All Star Studios”, formerly known as “Just East of Broadway”  -- have joined together to provide an unparalleled combination of professional instruction in cooking, music, academics, and dance and theater arts in one exciting, fun-filled summer camp package!

Young Chefs Academy

At this year’s summer camp program, Young Chefs Academy is celebrating the summer fun of the 2008 Olympic Games.  Campers will spend lunch with YCA and take a culinary journey to foreign lands; taste recipes from famous athletes, learn about sports nutrition, and much more.  Each week offers a different challenge.  Campers can choose from 3 sessions; Session 1: “Go Greek” - prepare amazing Greek dishes AND “The Champions Table” - try recipes from famous athletes.  Session 2: “The Torch Relay” - sample foods from around the world AND “Athletes in Training” - learn what foods give you fuel.  Session 3: “A Day in Beijing” - explore Chinese culture and cuisine AND “Kitchen Olympics” - does your food look as good as it tastes?  We’ll see in the Recipe Trials.  Recipe titles will be available two weeks before camp kicks off.  Cook for the Gold and let the games begin!

 “Belle Arti” Center for the Arts

“From Carnegie Hall to Forest Hills,” Belle Arti Center for the Arts is “the place to be for music.”  The first and only music center of European heritage in Forest Hills, “Belle Arti” offers private classes in piano, violin, guitar, cello and voice.  The “Belle Arti” segment of the summer camp program provides an excellent introduction to music studies.  Children will participate in two hours of music each weekday: one hour of instrumental instruction and one hour of Musical Aurora® class.  Musical Aurora® is a unique class developed and taught by Claudette Munné.  The goal of the class is to awaken the full creative and intellectual potential of each child.  Children are taught the fundamentals of music through songs, movements and games, and learn to communicate, concentrate, coordinate, cooperate and express themselves fully.  Sessions of instrumental instruction are as follows: Session 1: Voice; Session 2: Cello; Session 3: Guitar. 

SCORE! Educational Centers

The summer is a perfect time to catch up, keep up, and get ahead in academics!  SCORE! delivers academic progress in a fun environment that inspires kids in grades Pre-K to 10 to love learning.  The program will begin with an individual assessment that results in a customized learning plan.  SCORE! tutors will use proven instructional methods to keep kids focused on progress and promote self-confidence.  This summer SCORE! will also celebrate the fun of the 2008 Olympic Games!  Each session will focus on Reading, Math, and Language Arts and will culminate with one of three exciting competitions! Session 1: Spelling Bee; Session 2: Math Bee; Session 3: Define-a-thon!

 

"All Star Studios"

“All Star Studios”, formerly known as “Just East of Broadway”  is the Forest Hills’ performing arts studio.  In this segment of our summer program, children will focus on theater, tap, jazz, hip hop and acrobatics!  Activities are designed to encourage performers at every skill level to grow.  The children will be led through warm-ups and will learn choreography in all of the previously mentioned disciplines.  They will increase flexibility, improve coordination, focus on muscle strengthening, build poise, and HAVE FUN!  All Star Studios instructors are great performers and teachers who guide students toward their goals while building self-confidence and developing a positive self-image.

  

The Forest Hill Kids Corner™ Summer Camp Program offers three two-week camp sessions:

Session 1-    July 7^th to July 18^th

Session 2-    July 21^st to August 1^st

Session 3-    August 4^th to August 15^th

By popular demand, the Forest Hills Kids Corner Summer Camp is now offering 3, 4, and 5 day camp sessions for Session I(July7th – July 18^th).  Partial sessions will all begin on Monday, July 7th.
