Tais Szilagi



Tais Szilagi, mezzo-soprano, recently completed her Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance at the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College. Tais performs in all genres ranging from opera to pop. She has performed numerous leading roles in opera and musical theater including L’enfant (L’enfant et les Sortileges), Maddalena (Rigoletto). Meg Paige (Falstaff), Nicklausse (Tales of Hoffmann), Marchesa Melibea (Il Viaggo a Reims), and Aldonza (Man of la Mancha) just to name a few. Tais has premiered close to twenty new works including Roger Ames' bilingual opera En Mis Palabras for a “Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS” fundraiser. She has performed in the International Electro-Acoustic Music Festival and at venues including Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Disney World and the Bulgarian Consulate. Tais was recently signed as a pop recording artist with Joma Music Inc. Tais was also the music director of the music and art program Creative Coexistence (CreaCo) from 2013-2015. CreaCo promotes tolerance through musical performances and collaborations in the Brooklyn community. Additionally Tais is on faculty at Rome Piano and is the theater and vocal director at the Delaware Valley Performing Arts Camp in Philadelphia.
