The “Mid-Year” Student Recital on Sunday, January 20
was a great success. The venue of this special event was
Flushing Town Hall, Queens’ newest arts center and a New
York City and National Landmark building (1862). The concert
was divided in 3 sessions.
The first session opened with the Musical Aurora
students, children between the ages two to four. They were
excellent and already at that age were able to fill up the
theatre with electrifying moments. Then, the piano, violin,
guitar and voice students took over. The program included a
variety of pieces, from small compositions by John Thompson,
Bach, Bartok, Lennon/McCartney and Scarlatti to more
advanced such as Waltzes by Chopin, Violin Concerto by
Tchaikovsky (Second movement) and The Bee by Schubert. The
second and third sessions as well featured our cello, violin
and piano students performing music by Beethoven (Piano
Sonata op. 31 no. 2, Piano Sonata op. 13), Kuhlau (Piano
Sonatinas), Chopin (Ballade op. 23 no. 1, Etude op. 25 no.
1), Lalo Symphonie Espagnole (First movement), Corelli
(Violin variations “La Folia”), Dvorak, Bach, Thompson,
Mozart and Kabalevsky.
All the performers were great and no matter their level or
age, they all gave the best of their talent. Our mission at
Belle Arti is to help our students develop their personality
and self-confidence. We are very proud of their performance
and accomplishments.
We would like to express our warmest gratitude to the
faculty, staff, parents and guests for their special support
and cooperation.
Bravo to all the performers!
Massimiliano Facchini and Claudette Munné
